Ian’s amazing recovery

At the end of last year our Neurology and Neurosurgery team came to the rescue by operating on Ian a lovely little French bulldog who was paralysed. Ian was very distressed as he couldn’t move any of his limbs.

His MRI scan showed a C3-C4 intervertebral disc extrusion (slipped disc), and the team performed ‘Ventral Slot’ surgery straight after seeing the scan results.

Ian was a super star patient and Nikki Hammond a nursing lead and Eden Geary another nurse who closely looked after him day and night, said “He was a lovely patient to nurse, very sweet natured and it was great to see him improve each day.” He made a brilliant recovery and after only four days after surgery he was just about able to walk and went home for further recovery.

Co-incidentally two other dogs of the same breed with the same condition were successfully operated on by our Neurology and Neurosurgery team on the same day!
