Anderson Moores Veterinary Specialists is a busy, multi-disciplinary, referral-only small animal hospital in Hampshire, UK, that is committed to providing the highest standards of patient care. We have a varied caseload, including many unusual and interesting cases, and we have a close-knit, enthusiastic team. We continue to expand our clinical services and believe in a team approach to challenging cases.

We are seeking an ECVN or ACVIM (Neurology) boarded, or residency trained, neurologist to join our friendly, established, and supportive neurology service of three ECVN diplomates, two residents and a neurology intern.

The hospital contains all of the facilities expected of an advanced referral hospital including MRI (Phillips 1.5T), CT (64 Slice, Siemens Somatom Perspective), electrophysiology equipment (Deymed TruTrace EMG/NCS/EP), a full range of neurosurgical equipment, fluoroscopy and minimally-invasive and orthopaedic surgical equipment. Our specialist clinicians are supported by a team of highly qualified, registered veterinary nurses, nursing assistants, rotating interns and veterinary physiotherapists. We have two dedicated neurology nurses and many of our nurses have advanced qualifications.

About the role

We are looking for a medicine clinician to join our large medicine team comprising 5 senior clinicians, 8 residents and 2 service specific interns. AMVS have a large multidisciplinary team of specialists and nurses. You will work closely with well established imaging, cardiology, neurology, anaesthesia and soft tissue teams.

You will ideally be a specialist in medicine although we would also welcome applications from residency-trained clinicians

Anderson Moores Veterinary Specialists invites applications for an ACVIM and ECVIM approved Medicine Residency Programme and/or for a Medicine specific internship.

Anderson Moores Veterinary Specialists is a busy, multi-disciplinary, small animal referral practice located within the Hampshire countryside. The hospital is close to the historic city of Winchester (which is 1 hour from London by train).

The successful applicants will join a large team of referral clinicians (including 5 medicine diploma holders, eight medicine residents and 3 medicine specific interns). The disciplines offered at Anderson Moores Veterinary Specialists include internal medicine, ECC, oncology, soft tissue surgery, orthopaedic surgery, cardiology, neurology, diagnostic imaging, dentistry, dermatology and anaesthesia.

The applicant(s) must:

  • have excellent English language skills
  • be registered with the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons (MRCVS) or be eligible to register
  • have a minimum of two years clinical experience since graduation. The ideal candidate will have completed a rotating internship in a multidisciplinary referral centre.

All applicants must also be eligible to work in the UK.

The residency position is for 3 years. The medicine specific internship position is for 1 year. Benefits include a pension scheme, healthcare insurance and pet insurance. Veterinary nurses

At AMVS we ensure all clinical team members have the freedom to use their skills to the full, in a challenging but supportive and friendly environment. Working in a multi-disciplinary referral hospital can be a very different experience to a primary care setting and our Registered Veterinary Nurses (RVNs) are actively involved in diagnostic and surgical procedures and patient management in each of our disciplines.

Our service specific technicians work closely with our RVNs and vets to provide an exceptional service at every step of the patient journey. Our imaging technicians are trained to run our CT and MRI scanners whilst our theatre technicians are involved in supporting the surgery team.

Our Patient Care Assistants, get to take part in all aspects of patient comfort and care and work together with the RVNs and vets to make sure all of our patients receive the highest standard of care and have a recovery that is as stress free as possible.

If you are motivated to provide high quality care to cats and dogs, we have a vacancy for a full time Theatre Technician. As a vital part of the Nursing team, you should be passionate, dedicated and strive to maintain the highest clinical and professional standards. You will be working in a fast-paced environment that requires a great eye for detail. Although experience working with animals is beneficial, it is not essential as formal training will be provided.

Responsibilities include:

  • Cleaning and sterilising of surgical kits for procedures
  • Cleaning and turning theatres around between procedures
  • Assisting in theatre when required
  • Restocking consumables
  • Maintaining clinical standards
  • Liaising with surgical nursing team
  • Assisting other departments when required.

As a day nurse, you will be working alongside an experienced nursing team who have a passion for the work they do. About the role

The Night/Twilight shifts are predominantly inpatient care including high dependency and assisting with out of hour emergencies. As a Night or Twilight nurse, you will be working alongside an experienced out of hours nursing team who have a passion for the work they do. Our case load guarantees you will be able to put your nursing skills into practice and will be used to their full potential in a highly rewarding environment. We give excellent support to all our team members.

We are looking for an experienced Administrator who would like to join our organisation on a temporary basis to provide vital support to our Account/Insurance team during a very busy time. The Accounts/Insurance department are responsible for processing all insurance claims and payments on behalf of our clients. Your role will be to assist the team in doing this in an efficient and timely manner.

The role will consist of the following duties:

  • To accurately process insurance claims within agreed timescales
  • To manage queries from Insurers in a professional manner
  • To accurately record and process payments
  • To liaise with clients and insurance companies on the telephone in a professional, yet sensitive manner.

To be considered for this role, candidates must:

  • Have a minimum of 2 years administrative experience
  • Have experience of processing payments and insurance claims
  • Be proficient in using Microsoft software (Outlook/Excel)
  • Be able to pick up and learn new tasks quickly

About the roll

We are looking for an experienced HR & Payroll Administrator to primarily support the HR team during a very busy period of change.

As HR & Payroll Administrator you will be assisting the HR Team and Payroll Officer with employee lifecycle and pay administration. We will also be moving to a new payroll/HR system provider imminently and so you will be required to update and maintain the systems with frequent changes to payroll and employee information during his time.

The successful candidate will possess a high level of accuracy and attention to detail. The candidate must have a strong and demonstrable administrative background, ideally within a fast-paced environment or with Human Resources, as you will need to hit the ground running.

The dual role of customer service Receptionist/Administrator will demand a forward thinking, articulate and organised individual who works well under pressure. Duties include:

  • Meeting and greeting clients in a professional, yet sensitive manner
  • Answering the telephone, deal with queries, transfer calls, and taking messages where applicable
  • Liaising with referring vets and accurately recording details
  • Updating in-house notes system clearly and accurately
  • Coordinating appointments with the animal’s owners
  • Discussing finances and pet Insurance details
  • Taking card & cash payments
  • Accurately carrying out departmental filing
  • Building good working relationships with colleagues at all levels
  • Assisting with any other ad hoc duties when requested

The role involves shift working, with a combination of early and late shifts, on a fixed two-week rota. Occasional weekend and Bank Holiday cover is also required.

We are looking for a pro-active individual to join our close-knit Health, Safety and Facilities team on a part-time basis. Your main responsibility is providing a friendly but crucial staff transport service. You will also help the team undertake physical maintenance tasks that will enable the practice to operate smoothly and within current health and safety legislation.

Your primary working hours will 6.45am – 2.15pm (this includes a 30 mins lunch break) with occasional late afternoon (3.15pm – 7.15pm) working to help cover team holidays/absence. You will also be required to participate in on-call duties as required.

The ideal candidate will be a friendly and confident driver with experience in carrying out general maintenance tasks.

The main duties will include (but are not limited to):

  • Transporting to staff to and from Four Dells, Bunstead Barns and FHC
  • Animal transport – Feline Thyroid clinic
  • Cat/blood transport for medical procedures at Bunstead Barns
  • General administration
  • General building and grounds maintenance, for example:
    • Painting and decorating
    • Plumbing, drainage, and water management
    • Minor electrical works and refurbishments
    • Equipment repairs
    • Monthly fire safety checks
    • Engage with contractors – liaise with trades and assist with specialist works as and when required
    • Stock control/stock management duties i.e., replenish stock, goods in goods out, stock check, spreadsheet updating
    • Perform other reasonable job duties as requested.

IMPORTANT: The Driver / Facilities Assistant role is a physically demanding role and will require regular heavy lifting and bending.

You MUST possess a full and clean drivers’ licence and be over the age of 25 to be eligible to drive the minibus (3.5 ton – this can be driven on a standard UK driving licence).

  • Carry out general maintenance task
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Good IT skills including data base management
  • High level of attention to detail
  • Ability to work with consistency and integrity
  • Approachable, friendly and with a commitment to delivering a high-quality service
