We would like to say congratulations to our Anaesthetist Rachel Bennett on completing her PhD - The Impact of MK-467 on Certain Pharmacokinetic and Pharmacodynamic Properties of Selected Drugs Affecting the Central Nervous System in Dogs.
The studies investigated the impact of MK-467, a peripherally acting alpha2-adrenoceptor antagonist on the some of the pharmacodynamic and pharmacokinetic effects of medetomidine. It included both in vitro and in vivo studies. It adds to the veterinary literature on MK-467, which may offer some important clinical applications in the future.
Rachel is interested in clinical pharmacology, more specifically pharmacogenetics, and its role in pain management in companion animals. She hopes that her PhD work will be the foundation for further clinical studies in this field
