Laparoscopic and thoracoscopic (key-hole) procedures are gaining increased popularity and may accelerate patient recovery. They are proven to reduce perioperative discomfort and duration of hospitalisation, allowing pets to return more rapidly to the comfort of their home, while improving outcome at the same time. Anderson Moores is expanding its laparoscopic and thoracoscopic repertoire and is now equipped with ports for single incision laparoscopy (SILS port), laparoscopic and thoracoscopic staplers, haemostatic clip appliers and specimen retrieval bags. This is all in addition to our range of conventional laparoscopic and thoracoscopic ports and instruments.

We are currently able to offer the following keyhole procedures:

Anderson Moores is also equipped with a surgical diode laser that can be used for endoscopic interventional applications such as ablation of masses, laser ablation of ectopic ureters, laser turbinectomy in brachycephalic dogs.

Case selection is essential for most key-hole procedures. As a rule of thumb patients with early disease are most likely to benefit from a key-hole approach whereas patients with extensive disease or emergency patients are unlikely to be suitable candidates. The Soft Tissue team is happy to discuss cases prior to referral and can be contacted at softtissue@andersonmoores.com
