Who will be looking after my pet?
Your pet will be under the care of one of our specialist clinicians, but there is a large team caring for your pet behind the scenes.
Our nursing team is led by nurses who have undergone specialist further training and have earned the RCVS Diplomas in Advanced Medical/Surgical Nursing. Other members of the nursing team are currently studying for these advanced qualifications. All of our nurses are fully-qualified and registered VNs (veterinary nurses). We do not feel it is appropriate to have trainee nurses looking after our patients, many of which require complex care.
In the wards the nursing team works closely with a team of kennel assistants who are responsible for the non-medical aspects of in-patient care. They walk the dogs out to grass regularly throughout the day, spend time encouraging patients to eat when necessary and generally provide a lot of hands-on love and care for our patients.
Care at nights is just as important as care during the day and we have a dedicated team of night nurses who are in the wards throughout the night. We do not have interns (junior vets) -the overnight care is supervised by our specialist clinicians.
