Davina Anderson qualified from Cambridge University in 1989, and spent nearly 2 years in mixed practice before taking up an internship in Small Animal Medicine and Surgery at the Royal Veterinary College. After a further year in general practice, she moved back to Cambridge University to take up a Wellcome Trust Scholarship to study for a PhD in skin stem cells, looking at cultured skin grafts and publishing the first clinical case report of a cultured skin graft in a dog that had sustained severe burns. The PhD completed in 1997, she took up a Residency post at Cambridge Veterinary School to specialise in Small Animal Surgery. She became a Diplomate of the European College of Veterinary Surgeons in 2000 and stayed at Cambridge as part time Lecturer in Small Animal Surgery while continuing her research interests. In 2002 she became one of only 5 surgeons in the country to hold the RCVS Diploma in Small Animal Surgery (Soft Tissue) and is now a Recognised Specialist in Small Animal Soft Tissue Surgery. Her clinical interests remain in the field of reconstructive surgery for trauma and cancer management, but she has wide experience in all areas of Soft Tissue Surgery.
