Veterinary Specialist Launches Well-being Initiative

Stress, depression, and - unfortunately - suicide are all too common in the veterinary profession, but it does not have to be that way. Anderson Moores' RCVS Specialist in Veterinary Diagnostic Imaging, Petra Agthe, has developed positive psychology into a hobby and launched her Good Life Campaign – an initiative to encourage well-being amongst colleagues, friends and family.

Instead of climbing a mountain or running a marathon to raise awareness for mental health, Petra has decided to do something a little different. After a period of exploring the human mind, happiness and well-being, throughout 2017, Petra will be sharing weekly to bi-monthly blogs focused on achieving a ‘good life’ through a series of researched-based tips. The aim is to help improve personal wellness, whilst also fundraising for two charities – the International Rescue Committee and the World Veterinary Service.

Commenting on her Good Life campaign, Petra Agthe, said; “Mental well-being and happiness is important for everybody, but can be a particular challenge for people working in the veterinary industry. Luckily, there is solid scientific evidence that we can all improve our lives by making some relatively simple (although not always easy!) adjustments, which I will be sharing over the course of the year.”
